Teaching Resources

Teaching Resources

The university-wide teaching and research facilities and spaces include teaching and research areas of each department and center, laboratories, libraries, information centers, audiovisual media centers, and spaces established by various administrative units. These spaces can be categorized into three main types: primary teaching and research spaces, multifunctional spaces, and supporting spaces.

Learning Resources

University-wide learning resources include library collections and hardware-based teaching equipment. The library provides a wide range of materials for student use, with collections primarily focused on medicine, nursing, and the humanities. Currently, the library holds more than 5,000 Chinese-language books and over 8,000 English-language books in the field of speech-language pathology and audiology, as well as nearly 7,000 electronic journal titles (including those related to speech-language and hearing sciences).

In addition, the university’s Information Center provides comprehensive internet services, student computer self-study classrooms, computer language laboratories, website and email services, equipment lending services, and consultation services for both software and hardware issues. The Center also maintains a “Virtual Classroom” platform (Portal System) to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness. Through this platform, instructors can upload teaching materials and related resources, and establish discussion forums where students can share ideas, engage in discussion, and exchange perspectives on specific learning topics. This system contributes to knowledge integration and the development of critical thinking skills.

The Department has established one of the most comprehensive Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Teaching and Training Centers, Clinical Education Centers, and Research Laboratories in Taiwan. These facilities include specialized spaces such as professional IAC soundproof booths, acoustic analysis examination rooms, large observation audiology rooms, and speech and acoustics research laboratories. The Department is also equipped with internationally standardized audiology and speech-language equipment, including middle ear analyzers, pure-tone audiometers, aerodynamic analysis systems, and nasometry systems, as well as video conferencing systems for synchronous clinical teaching with Mackay Memorial Hospital.

In addition, through a formal academic cooperation agreement with Mackay Memorial Hospital, both institutions share equipment, teaching, and research resources, and provide students with valuable clinical practicum opportunities.
